Maggie's Story

I used to wait outside a Dollar Tree for food. I was pregnant. Now, I am safe and ready for a forever home!

For a long time, people would see me near a Dollar Tree, near the shops, always nearby but never close. For the first time, I could just be their mom.

Now they’re growing. Strong. Safe. I used to wait outside a Dollar Tree for food. I was pregnant. Now, I am safe and ready for a forever home!

For a long time, people would see me near a Dollar Tree, near the shops, always nearby but never close. I stayed where food might be, but I kept my distance. I had learned that getting too close could hurt.

I survived like that for over two years.

I was pregnant when they found me. Tired. Careful. Still watching everything. I didn’t know what was about to happen, only that something felt different this time.

No one chased me. No one scared me.

They were patient.

So I didn’t run.

That’s how I got here.

I had my puppies somewhere safe. Not outside. Not alone. I gave birth to nine healthy babies in warmth, with people watching over us, making sure we were okay. I didn’t have to fight for food. I didn’t have to protect them from everything. For the first time, I could just be their mom.

Now they’re growing. Strong. Safe. Loved.
