Maddox's Story

Certified Comfort Consultant & Head-in-Lap Specialist

Maddox is a 5-year-old blue terrier mix, about 40 lbs of velvet-coated goodness with a face that looks like he’s been minding his business since 1987. He’s the kind of dog that doesn’t just sit on the couch — he belongs to the couch. Preferably on top of a comforter, two pillows, and whatever soft thing you thought was yours.

His love language? Full-body contact. This man is a hugger. He’ll wrap himself around you like he’s trying to clock in for an emotional support shift and never leave. The kind of dog who quietly rests his head on your lap like, “yeah… this is where I live now.”

Maddox has a few hobbies:
• Shredding stuffed animals like it’s his part-time job
• Watching the neighborhood from the window like a retired detective
• Sleeping in and going to bed early (he believes in balance)
• Laying in the grass doing absolutely nothing and being incredible at it
• And one thing we absolutely love — he’ll carry his toys around with him like prized possessions. Just proudly parading them room to room like, “yes, this is mine.”

He’s also very passionate about snacks. Peanut butter in a Kong? Life-changing. Meals? Gone in 12 seconds flat. We’ve introduced him to the concept of a slow feeder so he can pace himself like a gentleman instead of a competitive eater. Same goes for water — he gets a little too excited and occasionally gives it back, just a touch. Nothing dramatic, just enthusiasm.

Maddox isn’t really into the whole WWE lifestyle — roughhousing isn’t his thing. He prefers a calmer vibe where he can hang, observe, and step in for hugs when necessary. He will alert you if something suspicious happens outside (like a leaf moving wrong), and he takes that responsibility seriously.

Maddox loves hard and keeps a close circle. He’ll do best with someone who understands how to lead calmly and confidently — someone who appreciates a dog that bonds deeply and wants to be part of your world, not just in it.

On leash, he might pull a bit at the start (he’s got places to be, apparently), but give him a yard and he’ll happily lounge like he’s on vacation. He’s not big on crates, but if you make it cozy and throw a blanket over it, he’ll settle in just fine.

Life with Maddox looks like this: slow mornings, a dog-shaped weight on your legs, coffee in hand while he supervises the yard, and evenings that end early because your best friend decided 8pm is a perfectly reasonable bedtime.

And the truth is — he doesn’t just fit into a home, he locks in.

The kind of dog who picks his person and means it. The kind you catch yourself looking at like, “how did I get so lucky?”

We love this boy to pieces. And whoever gets him is about to understand why.

+++++++

ADOPTION APPLICATION:
https://www.stmuttsrescue.com/adoption-application

+++++++

Maddox is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to the perfect forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week!

+++++++

The Truth About Rescue:

Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again.

Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.

+++++++

Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com.

Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.

Check out all of our adoptable pups and learn more about our rescue on our website: www.stmuttsrescue.com
