Maddie's Story

Hi Meet little pocket pittie Maddie!
She's 2-3 yrs old, loves car rides, is crate trained and house broken.
She loves water and loves biting the hose water. She is very sweet and incredibly smart! She learns fast and listens to commands. She needs some leash training and consistency as whom ever ever had her prior to the shelter didn't seem to work with her on walking on leash.
She would greatly benefit from someone who has owned a bully breed before and can work with leash reactivity meaning walk her on the opposite side and be a good Pack leader to show her she doesn't have to be protective or nervous. She's amazing with people and loves attention and affection.
She also would greatly benefit from an active person. She would be such a great hiking dog and you know what they say. A tired dog is a well-behaved dog. She truly does need someone active to help her burn off energy, gain confidence, and have an outlet that she didn't have prior to being rescued.

Healing Hounds Rescue's Adoption Policy
I have them fill out my foster/adoption contract and after receiving I call to vet them and understand their abilities and the type of dog they would like. We have a good hour long convo of everything from slow introductions, training, positive reinforcement, needs of the dog, and the adopters expectations. I either do a home check or ask for pictures of where the dog would be staying, sleeping, eating. Then we plan a meet and greet with adopter and adopters other animals or family members to see how the dog reacts. I want to set up my rescues for success and make sure it's a good fit for everyone.
