Madam Sadie's Story
Madam Sadie is currently in a foster home. If you would like to meet her, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application.

Madam Sadie is a graceful senior Retriever, between 7-8 yrs old, who carries herself with quiet dignity—and just a touch of charm behind her formal title. Already well-acquainted with her name, Sadie has proven to be the ultimate easy companion. She’s completely house trained, politely standing by the door when she needs to go out, and she has perfect manners when left alone—no crate required. In fact, she’s what many would call a “dog owner’s dream,” having long outgrown the chaos of puppyhood and settled into a calm, gentle rhythm of life.

Sadie’s personality is as soft as her eyes. She is incredibly calm and cautious, often seeming to look for a quiet cue before stepping into something new. She hasn’t made a single peep—no barking, no fuss—just peaceful companionship (her foster jokes she may have misplaced her “barker” along the way). She welcomes affection in all forms, happily soaking up head scratches, belly rubs, and gentle attention. Submissive and easygoing, she shows friendly interest in dogs of all sizes and does best with slow introductions. She’s also wonderful with children of all ages, making her a steady and reassuring presence in a family home.

This lovely lady enjoys the simple pleasures: lounging on her dog bed, spending time outside (whether solo or with a canine friend), and savoring her meals at a relaxed pace. Due to some dental sensitivity, she prefers softened food and treats, though she still enjoys working on a chew now and then. She’s learned the doggie door in just a few days, has no interest in mischief, and hasn’t shown a single bad habit—truly the perfect house guest. While she hasn’t explored much on leash yet, she’s shown no reaction to wildlife in the yard and seems content with a peaceful environment. Madam Sadie is the kind of companion who brings calm, comfort, and quiet joy—ready to spend her golden years in a home that appreciates her gentle soul.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
