Mabel is deaf and will need a loving and patient home that understands the extra care and time required in training a deaf puppy. <br/><br/>This beautiful baby is already stealing hearts everywhere she goes. She’s incredibly sweet and gentle. New places and new people make her a little shy or nervous at first but, once she feels safe, she warms up quickly and becomes the biggest little love bug. She enjoys cozy snuggles, exploring at her own pace, and staying close to her person. Her lack of hearing doesn’t slow her down. It just means she experiences the world in a unique and special way.<br/><br/>Deaf dogs live full, happy lives but they do require thoughtful and committed homes. Please read the following before submitting an application and understand that these are just some of the commitments you will be making:<br/>• Training will be visual-based. (Hand signals, body language, and consistent routines will be key.) <br/>• Her safety is critical. She cannot hear dangers like cars, bikes, or someone calling her name. A securely fenced yard and leash use outside of it are non-negotiable.<br/>• She can’t hear you approach her so she may startle easily. Especially when touched while sleeping. Gentle and consistent handling can help with this.<br/>• Deaf dogs often form incredibly deep bonds because they rely heavily on visual connection with their people.<br/>• She will thrive in a home that is patient, structured, and committed to positive reinforcement training.
