Mabel's Story
Meet Mabel!

Mabel is the perfect blend of playful cattle dog energy and laid-back companionship. Whether she's romping around with her canine friends or relaxing near her people, Mabel is happiest when she's part of the action.

One thing that makes Mabel special is that she is completely deaf. She navigates the world differently than hearing dogs do, but she doesn't let it slow her down one bit. Because she can't hear cues like barking, doorbells, or verbal reminders, her future family will need to be consistent with routines, especially potty breaks and training. Mabel is a smart girl who thrives with structure and clear expectations.

Mabel absolutely loves other dogs and will need a home with at least one canine companion. She takes her cues from her dog friends, enjoys playing with them, and gains confidence from having another dog around. Having canine companionship is an important part of helping Mabel succeed — when kenneled, she does best when she can see her dog friends nearby, which helps her feel secure and connected. In her foster home, the other dogs typically wake her up naturally, and she responds well to that routine.

Mabel is a social, friendly girl who isn't fearful of dogs or people. She walks beautifully on a leash and tends to stay close to her people and canine companions while out in the yard. She's doing well with house training, is comfortable in a kennel, enjoys her meals and treats, and occasionally likes to play with toys.

Mabel is looking for a family that understands her unique needs and sees her deafness not as a limitation, but simply as part of who she is. She doesn't know she's different. She's just Mabel. With a canine buddy by her side and a family committed to consistency and communication, she'll make a wonderful companion.

If you're looking for a sweet, social cattle dog with a gentle heart and a unique perspective on the world, Mabel may be the perfect addition to your family.

Mabel is approximately 1.5 years old, weighs 40 lbs, and has a long tail. She is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. She is currently taking heartworm and flea preventative.

Thanks for considering a dog from Texas Cattle Dog Rescue! We place heelers all over the state of Texas.

If you're interested in one of our dogs, please complete our adoption application first.
