LURCH's Story

Say hello to Lurch, the 80-lb bundle of love who just rolled into town as part of our shelter swap program. This program is all about second chances—giving amazing dogs like Lurch a fresh start and a brand new audience of potential families. And trust us, this gorgeous boy deserves ALL the attention! Wait... How Was This Hunk in his previous shelter for 126 Days?! We’re just as shocked as you are! With those soulful eyes, that regal presence, and a heart as big as his paws, Lurch is basically the canine equivalent of a rom-com leading man ??. The only thing missing? His happy ending. That’s where YOU come in! Lurch started his journey, arriving at his previous shelter as a stray, running free with a buddy. When rescuers first tried to bring him to safety, he was nervous and hard to catch—classic scaredy-cat behavior. But here’s the beautiful part: once Lurch realized he was SAFE, everything changed. He blossomed with the staff and volunteers, transforming into the affectionate, walk-loving sweetheart he was always meant to be. This gentle giant seeks reassurance and cuddles like it’s his job. Translation? Lurch is a big, lovable teddy bear wrapped in an 80-lb package, and he’s looking for his person to snuggle! Are you ready to be someone’s hero? Lurch needs a patient human who understands that trust takes time. Yes, he might be a little shy when you first meet—but give him a chance to know you, and you’ll discover a loyal, loving companion who will fill your life with joy. Visit us at ?? 430 Bristol Dr., Statesville, NC, meet Lurch, and see if you’re his forever family.
