Luna-Lee's Story

Hi, my name is Luna Lee! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Friendly, attentive, smart, food-motivated, adventurous
-Can Live with Kids: Luna Lee lived successfully in her previous home and would likely be fine doing so again. Recommending respectful, dog-savvy kids experienced with large breed dogs!
-Can Live with Cats: Luna Lee lived successfully with cat(s) in her previous home and should be fine doing so again after a slow, supervised introduction.
-Can Live with Dogs: Not recommended at time time -- Luna Lee would do best in a single dog home!
-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended due to breed/size/energy level/activity needs-- she'd REALLY love a home with a yard (fenced would be great!) Apartments may be considered on a case by case basis.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: No
-Energy Level: Medium/high
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No

Luna Lee is a loyal, loving, large mixed breed dog (Husky/Shepherd perhaps?) on the lookout for a forever family to call her own. She was surrendered to us after her previous owner had to unexpectedly move to a new apartment that unfortunately didn't allow pets. She's really hoping her next family is in it for the longhaul and will think seriously about their longterm living arrangements prior to adopting. Luna's previous family said she "loves peanut butter, loves to cuddle, her nickname is 'Noonie', she likes butt pats, is amazing with kids, and jumps but only out of excitement.'" They also said a couple things she could work on are "walking on leash, dog socialization." Fortunately Luna Lee is super attentive and very food motivated which should go a long way in her training! Luna Lee is a bit overweight and should love about 15lbs to reach her ideal weight. Regular exercise and potentially a special low-calorie diet should help her on her fitness journey!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
