Luna in NJ - Gives Sweet Kisses!'s Story
Hi! My name is Luna and I'm a sweet, beautiful pup from Tennessee. I had a rather rough start and wound up in a shelter and then rescue boarding from the time I was 7 months old, and so I'm still learning the ropes and still a puppy. My foster mom thinks that I'm a fast learner and just need some time with the right person, because you see, I'm deaf. My ideal forever home would be with someone willing to teach me some hand signals and help me to be the best I can be. I learned to walk great on a leash after only a couple days with my foster. On my walks, I typically ignore other dogs, am timid with people but will slowly approach them, and will try to get every bunny and squirrel I see (I still havent figured out where those squirrels disappear to so fast!). I almost got the neighbors cat when she went sprinting across the yard. I'm learning about things in my foster house like my reflection in appliances and the TV - they were so strange to me at first! I'm kinda getting used to them being there. I'm almost housebroken and my foster mom is sure that I will be 100% with just a little more time in a home. I love my pets, but don't sneak up on me because I startle easily (I can't hear you!). But once you're petting me, I don't want you to stop and I'll roll over so that you can do my belly too. I sleep all night in my crate without a peep. I'm still learning to love the car but were making progress there too. I'm just a quick learner with everything, especially when there are treats involved. My mom says that there's nothing better than a treat-motivated dog like me. If you're looking for an affectionate and playful girl, have a 5-foot fenced in yard, and are willing to teach me hand signals so we can communicate, I hope you'll fill out an application!

NYS Registered Rescue # RR102
NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at

Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you.

Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicants ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
