Luna 's Story

Luna’s story is one of quiet resilience and unimaginable strength. Found on the border of Mexico alongside Sol, she was emaciated, terrified, and simply trying to survive. We believe Luna is Sol’s mama, and it’s clear she did everything she could to protect him, even in her weakest moments. She arrived with an abrasion on her head, and we later learned the heartbreaking truth… while starving, Luna had tried to eat a piece of chicken and was struck with a shovel.

When Luna came into our care, her body told the story of neglect, mange, parasites, ticks, and severe malnourishment. But even then, her spirit never broke.

And yet… her spirit remained intact.

Today, Luna has not only healed physically, but she’s begun to show us who she truly is. She is gentle, soulful, petite and incredibly sweet. There’s a calmness about her that you feel instantly—a quiet, grounding presence that brings peace to those around her. She carries a sense of gratitude that’s hard to describe… like she knows she’s safe now.

Luna and Sol are incredibly bonded and will be adopted out as a bonded pair. They are the kind of dogs that you don’t come across often. Soft, loving, and deeply connected, they will give their whole hearts to their family.

If you’re ready to open your heart to a dog who will give you everything she has, please submit an adoption application at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications. Once received, we’d be happy to answer any questions and arrange a meet-and-greet with Luna and Sol.
