LUNA 425's Story

Meet Luna: A Gentle Soul with So Much Love to Give

Listed as a 65-pound Great Pyrenees mix and estimated to be between 1.5 and 2 years old, Luna is a beautiful young girl with an incredibly gentle heart, a clever mind, and so much potential just waiting to blossom.

Luna is still figuring out the world around her, and sometimes even the simple things that other dogs take for granted are brand-new experiences for her. She can be timid and unsure at first, but as she begins to feel safe, her sweet, affectionate, and wonderfully endearing personality starts to shine through. Watching her discover new things, gain confidence, and realize that it's okay to just be a dog is something truly special.

One of Luna's most remarkable qualities is how thoughtful and observant she is. She frequently checks in with her people, almost as if she's asking, "Am I doing this right? Is this okay?" She's unbelievably gentle when taking treats, pays close attention to the world around her, and seems to genuinely want to understand what's expected of her. She's also incredibly smart! She already knows "sit" and has started learning "wait" simply by watching the other dogs in her foster home.

Luna absolutely thrives on positive reinforcement, encouragement, and praise. She's a sensitive soul who wants to do well, but harsh words, raised voices, or intimidating interactions can cause her to cower and lose confidence. She needs people who understand that patience, kindness, and celebrating even the smallest victories will help her flourish. With gentle guidance and consistency, there's no telling just how much this clever girl can accomplish!

And we're already seeing more of her playful side emerge! Luna has recently started showing interest in playing with toys independently and seems to particularly enjoy having something to chew on. These might seem like little things, but for a dog who's still learning how to relax and enjoy life, they're wonderful milestones. We have a feeling her goofy, playful personality is only beginning to reveal itself, and there will be plenty more smiles and laughter ahead.

Luna also loves other dogs! She's enthusiastic about making canine friends, though she's still learning some of the finer points of doggy social etiquette and understanding play signals. If her forever home has another dog, a confident, patient companion around her size or larger who can help model good manners would be a wonderful match.

When it comes to walks, Luna is an absolute pleasure. Her leash manners are impressive, and she enjoys exploring her surroundings, sniffing interesting things, and taking in the world without feeling the need to drag her human along for the ride.

At home, she's been an excellent houseguest! She appears to be fully potty trained and hasn't had a single accident in her foster home. She currently prefers using the fenced yard for bathroom breaks, so her future family may need to help her become comfortable doing her business on walks as well. She occasionally finds something worth barking about, but she's responsive to calm redirection.

There are a few things Luna needs extra understanding and support with. Stairs are currently intimidating for her, especially when going down, but she's learning and working on building her confidence. Her foster family is helping her overcome this fear with patience, encouragement, and positive experiences. A home with stairs is certainly not out of the question, but her future family will need to have a Plan B in place so she can safely and comfortably navigate daily life while she continues to learn. Like so many other things in Luna's world, stairs are simply another challenge she'll need a little time and reassurance to conquer.

Because of her size, sensitivity, and ongoing confidence-building journey, Luna would likely do best in a home with adults or older children who can understand and respect her needs.

More than anything, Luna deserves a family who sees not just the amazing dog she already is, but everything she's capable of becoming. She doesn't need someone to push her to be brave before she's ready. She needs people who will help her discover, at her own pace, that the world can be a wonderful place and that she's safe, loved, and allowed to make mistakes along the way.

Luna has an incredible amount of love to give, and she has a way of bringing a smile to your face without even trying. Every new discovery, every little victory, and every glimpse of her growing confidence is a reminder of just how special she is.

The family lucky enough to earn her trust won't just be gaining a wonderful companion. They'll get the incredible privilege of watching this sweet girl blossom into the happy, confident, playful dog we know is waiting inside.

Luna isn't looking for a perfect home. She's looking for a loving one where she can feel safe, keep learning, and discover just how wonderful life can be. Could that be with you?

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application.
