Pro Heart 12 protects against heartworm disease for 12 months. She will only require Nexguard each month for flea/tick prevention until September 2026. For October 2026, she will require a new prescription for Nexguard and Heartguard or Advantage Multi for year-round ongoing preventative treatment.

Luna must always be kept at a healthy weight. Pug mixes are prone to back and leg issues, as well as breathing issues. The more weight they carry, the harder it is on their bodies. Conditions such as Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS) – a genetic condition of flat-faced dogs that causes narrow nostrils, long soft palates, and narrow windpipes can lead to noisy breathing, exercise intolerance, and heat sensitivity. Factors such as increased weight, high temperatures, and over-excitement can worsen symptoms. Adopters should always use collars that avoid pressure on the neck. It is recommended that the adopters be familiar with these types of issues for a pug mix.
