She is still learning that the world is a safe place and needs a calm, patient home that will allow her to build confidence at her own pace.<br/><br/>She can be nervous with new people, environments, car rides, and leashes. Because of this, she requires a very understanding adopter who will go slowly and continue helping her feel safe. Lumi is making progress every day—she now greets her person with excitement and is beginning to come out of her shell.<br/><br/>Lumi is primarily an indoor dog. She is still learning to feel comfortable outside and is currently carried for short periods to help her adjust. At this time, she is not leash trained and should not be taken to dog parks or busy social environments.<br/><br/>Personality & Home Life<br/><br/>• Sweet, shy, and gentle<br/>• Playful once comfortable<br/>• Loves toys and quiet playtime<br/>• Enjoys cozy spaces and affection on her terms<br/>• Thrives on routine, consistency, and reassurance<br/><br/>Lumi would benefit greatly from having another young, small, confident dog in the home, as it helps her build confidence and feel secure.<br/><br/>Training<br/><br/>• Semi potty-trained (uses pee pads)<br/>• May have occasional accidents while learning<br/>• Will require continued potty and leash training with patience and consistency<br/><br/>Ideal Home<br/><br/>• Adult-only home (no children)<br/>• Calm, quiet, low-traffic environment<br/>• Toy breed experience required<br/>• Another young, small dog preferred<br/>• Someone home most of the day<br/>• Patient adopter committed to building her confidence<br/><br/>Medical & Placement<br/><br/>Lumi will be available for adoption once she is spayed in the coming weeks.<br/><br/>Adoption Requirements<br/><br/>• Local adoption only — Miami area (no transportation available)<br/>• Applicant must be 65 years old or under<br/><br/>Adoption Process<br/><br/>If you are interested in adopting or meeting Lumi, the first step is to submit an adoption application along with all required documents.
