LULU's Story

*For any questions or to learn more about the adoption process, please contact us at inquiry@kpupsforlove.org.

Meet LULU!

This sweet girl was rescued from a city shelter in Masan, South Korea just before euthanasia and is currently living with her foster family in Ulsan while waiting for her forever home.

Lulu is housetrained for outdoor potty breaks and is incredibly friendly with people and other dogs; she has not been introduced to cats yet. Lulu is an active girl who absolutely loves going for long walks. One of her favorite routines is running alongside a bike to the park, enjoying a long walk there, and then running back home again! She may pull on the leash a little but she's responsive to her handler. She has no noticeable prey drive when outdoors. She tends to pick up things from the ground during walks, so she should be supervised closely.

At home, Lulu is gentle and calm when people are around, but she does struggle with some separation anxiety. If left alone, she may chew on shoes or doors; she can also become anxious during strong winds. Lulu's foster parents have been working on crate training, but it is something she will definitely need to continue working on with her new family. Once inside a crate, she settles well and is not destructive, but when kept in a fenced area, she has tried to damage the fence in attempts to escape. Lulu may bark briefly when the doorbell rings or when unfamiliar visitors visit, but she settles down quickly. Lulu has little interest in toys.

Lulu can be a picky eater when it comes to kibbles but she loves it when you sprinkle some chicken breast; she also has a sensitive stomach and may develop diarrhea from fatty treats or meats such as pork. Lulu has no food aggression.

Lulu rides well in the car once she has formed a bond with her person, though she can be anxious during car rides before that bond is established. Keeping the car windows closed is recommended until then. She is calm during grooming and bathing.

Like many Jindo dogs, it takes time for Lulu to build deep trust with her owner, and forming that bond may take many months. She is cautious when meeting new people and might move away if someone tries to pet her right away. After a few days, she gets more comfortable but is usually more comfortable being petted on her back or hips than on her head at first. She might also try to avoid hands reaching over her head. She generally prefers women over men. When she feels uncomfortable, she may make a bluffing motion as if she is going to nip, but she has never actually bitten anyone. Lulu is a sensitive dog who thrives with patience, consistency, and understanding. Once she feels secure, she is an incredibly loyal companion.
