Meet Lulu

Lulu is a _ year old pitbull terrier mix. She has received professional training and demonstrates excellent skills including sit, heel, and place with implied stays. She displayed reactivity to dogs and critters. After her training, she has come a long way and can walk past dogs on neighborhood walks - all she asks is for a high value food reward in return! (Lulu does not require a reward constantly for this skill, but it is best for a new adopter to reward consistently so her training can transfer to her new human, then rewards can be faded for this difficult skill as she settles in to her new home.) Lulu is very food motivated and loves to learn. For easy skills such as training in the home and heeling on walks when no dogs are around, she doesn’t mind working for her kibble. She will accept kibble as a reward when walking past dogs and training around dogs, but some high value freeze dried treats really help in these scenarios to keep her eager to work with her human.

Lulu likes playing with toys around the house, but doesn’t have a very high toy drive for training. She will enjoy a frozen snack kong with a little dog safe peanut butter and will even eat her kibble out of kongs for enrichment. Lulu is laid back in the house and doesn’t steal human items or destroy things other than her toys. She may boof as passersby. Her training can and should be applied similarly from inside the home or fenced yard seeing dogs pass on the sidewalk if her new home has many visible dogs that walk by. She may get the zoomies in the yard from time to time, but usually chooses to roam and sniff in a fenced yard.

Lulu has demonstrated strong skills in barn hunt - a scentwork sport. She naturally desires to sniff out critters and indicate her finds. She would be great candidate for someone seeking a dog to do barnhunt with.

Lulu likes relaxing and being petted by her humans and hasn’t had issues meeting new people when introduced to them. She was immediately friendly with the trainers at barnhunt and her transporters. She can be a bit of a foodie and her future person should provide only a reasonable amount of snacks to ensure she remains at a healthy weight. Using freeze dried dog food for high value rewards and removing the same amount from meals on high training days can help with this as freeze dried dog food is a balanced and complete basic diet and can replace parts of meals.

She is crate trained and spayed & microchipped.

While she has completed training with flying colors, Lulu seems to present high arousal in sight of other dogs and animals. She would do best in a home without other animals and should not be placed in situations with other animals.
