Luke's Story

Are you looking for a loyal companion whose only goal is to love and be loved? Meet Luke, a senior dog who has been waiting patiently for a quiet home to call his own.

Luke is an incredibly sweet boy who truly aims to please. It's clear he hasn't had the easiest life, as he can be a bit head shy, but his capacity for forgiveness is immense. All he wants is a gentle hand and a person to dote on.

To help Luke find the perfect retirement home, a generous anonymous donor has sponsored a portion of his adoption fee! (Luke's adoption fee is $150)

We've made sure Luke is all set for his new beginning. He's had a full senior bloodwork panel and a recent dental cleaning (including x-rays and extractions). Like many seniors, he has some age-related aches and anxiety, but both are easily managed with affordable daily medication. He also has some "Westie skin itchies," which are common and manageable. He's had great relief with a monthly injection and daily Benadryl.Luke's Ideal Home:

He needs to be the only pet in the home. While he's friendly with other dogs on leash, he wants to be the king of his own castle and soak up all your attention.
A calm, adult-only household is best. He needs a home without small children (now or in the future) to help him feel safe and secure.

This wonderful, resilient boy has so much love left to give. Could you be the one to show him what a true forever home feels like?

Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, bordetella, and Lepto. Neutered and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply to adopt Luke, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org

This is the time to determine whether a dog's personality is a match for your whole family and other animals, and to see if you have allergies. Please don't wait until after adopting to really touch and handle a dog, skip the antihistamines and get those allergens all over you now! STEP 3: You love the dog!
