LUKE's Story

Meet Luke — The Bossy, Brilliant, Fun-Loving Cattle Dog Mix Meet Luke, the black-and-white brother who has officially traded in his shy beginner phase for a big personality and an even bigger opinion about everything. Luke spent most of his early life living outdoors. When he first arrived, leash walking was completely new to him — in fact, it took staff about a month of patient work to help him feel comfortable enough to walk on a leash without “pancaking” and freezing up. With consistency and encouragement, he figured it out, and now he does very well on leash and enjoys going for walks. Luke is curious, observant, and often the first one to investigate what’s going on... or decide how things should go. Luke is full of energy, intelligence, and character. He LOVES activity and thrives when he has a job to do or something fun to engage his brain and body. His favorite things include: The flirt pole (his absolute favorite) Carrying a soccer ball while playing Exploring and “supervising” his environment Rubbing along fences like a cat Interactive play and attention from his people Luke is also quite vocal and expressive, especially when excited or engaged. He plays hard and can get mouthy in a playful way, including gentle nipping during excitement or play sessions — because of this, he is best suited for an adult-only home or a home with older, dog-savvy kids. On leash, Luke does very well and enjoys going for walks. He enjoys other dogs and will happily play, but he prefers to be the boss of his space. Luke does not want to share his home, toys, or potty areas with other dogs, so he is looking for a single-dog household where he can be the center of attention. Luke is not a fit for a cat household. Luke’s Ideal Home: Active home that can keep him physically and mentally engaged Experienced adopter who understands high-energy, intelligent herding breeds Secure fencing or supervised outdoor time A family who enjoys training, structure, and interactive play Older children (if any) due to his excited, mouthy play style A home where he can be the one and only pet Luke is not a dog who wants to sit on the sidelines — he wants to be involved in everything. Without proper outlets, he will create his own “adventures,” so he needs an adopter who can channel his energy into productive, fun activities. With the right structure, consistency, and engagement, Luke is going to be an incredibly fun, loyal, and entertaining companion. He’s smart, driven, and full of personality — he just needs a home that can keep up with him and appreciate his bold spirit.
