Lugnut's Story

Meet Lugnut — The Little Guy Worth Saving!

At around 7 months old, Lugnut is proof that sometimes the smallest dogs have the biggest reasons to keep fighting. This adorable Chihuahua/Terrier mix (best guess) found himself in a high-kill shelter, where his time was running out and euthanasia was next on the list. He was just a puppy with his whole life ahead of him, and we couldn't stand the thought of his story ending before he ever got the chance to experience what it means to be truly loved.

So we stepped in and gave Lugnut the second chance he deserved!

Like so many dogs who end up in overcrowded shelters, Lugnut's past isn't the story we want defining him. What matters now is the future waiting for him — a safe home, a family to call his own, and a lifetime of adventures that don't involve wondering what tomorrow will bring.

At 7 months old, Lugnut is still a young pup with plenty of growing, learning, and exploring ahead of him. He's at that fun age where he's ready to start building a bond with his people, learning household routines, and discovering all the wonderful things life has to offer. His forever family should be prepared for the usual puppy and adolescent shenanigans, including continued training, socialization, patience, and plenty of love.

As a Chihuahua/Terrier mix (best guess), Lugnut may be a little guy with a whole lot of personality packed into one adorable package! Whether he's destined to be your sidekick for everyday adventures or your little shadow during lazy evenings at home, he's got the opportunity to become someone's very best friend.

We may never know why Lugnut's path led him to a shelter, but we know he deserved more than a deadline. He deserved a chance. Now, we're looking for the family who will make sure he never has to wonder if he's wanted again.

Currently fostered in Brownsville, Texas.

Out-of-state adopters welcome! We offer biweekly transport to the East Coast (Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, and Rhode Island), the Pacific Northwest and Mountain Region (Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, and Montana), and the Midwest (Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, and Iowa).

Ready to give Lugnut his happily-ever-after?

Sanctuary Park Rescue's Adoption Policy
All potential adopters are required to complete a detailed adoption application. Applications are reviewed to ensure the dog is a good match for the adopter’s lifestyle, experience level, home environment, and other pets. We conduct reference checks, including veterinary references (if applicable), and verify that current and past pets are up to date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. Landlord approval is required for renters. A home check (virtual or in-person) may be conducted when appropriate. Adopters must agree to provide proper veterinary care, keep the dog as an indoor companion, maintain heartworm prevention, and return the dog to Sanctuary Park Rescue if they are ever unable to keep the animal. All adoptions require a signed adoption contract and an adoption fee to help offset medical expenses. Our goal is to ensure safe, responsible, and permanent placements that prioritize the long-term wellbeing of each dog.
