Lucy - Mini Dachshund mix's Story
Lucy is a 6-7 yr old female Dachshund mix, weighing 17 lbs.

Lucy came from a hoarding situation, and came to us with no manners. She has come a LONG way in the time she has been with us. It is fun to watch her learn, and she is so open to it. She minds pretty well now and has learned a LOT.

She has learned what is acceptable and what is not. She is very responsive when I give a specific "uh-uh" sound, letting her know when she is doing something not approved., and will stop, turn and walk away.

She is pretty solid on potty training, especially with a doggie door; and with the doggie door is closed, she will also go to the back door when she needs to go out. But I do still try to let her out every couple of hours and will go out with her to reinforce her begavior.

Lucy might be better with a doggie door because, having been predominantly indoors most of her life, she really enjoys the freedom of going in and out when she wants. She seems to remember potty outside better when she has access.

Lucy is one of the sweetest girls you will meet, and she loves meeting people.. She will follow me around the house, so curious about everything.

I don't think she ever had toys to play with, but she has learned what the toy basket is (every time she would get something not approved, I.would take it and give her a toy from the basket). She is learning pretty quickly and definitely wants to please.

Lucy is a cuddle bug, and will sleep in a dog bed on the floor, or next to me in bed. And she likes to be on the sofa next to you with her head on your leg or lap.

Lucy would be a great addition to a family. She gets along with other dogs, although she prefers the company and attention of humans.

She is pretty quiet, doesn't bark much and is very food motivated. So, training her would be pretty easy.

Lucy does have a medical issue. She has a history of seizures. After she came to us and had her first seizure, we got her on meds. Then when I became her foster mom, we discovered she had a perforated ear drum and a severe ear infection. After working with the vet and going through several rounds of Antibiotics the ear infection is clearing up and the ear drum is almost healed. But we are monitoring her and she is still on the anti-seizure and antiniotic meds.

Come meet Lucy!

TO MEET OR ADOPT, PLEASE COMPLETE ADOPTION APPLICATION:
https://form.jotform.com/40468849602159

OR

irescueHomelessPets.org/adopt.html
