Lucy's Story
Name: Lucy
Age: 1 year, 7 months
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Size: Medium (50 lbs)

Personality & Story:
Lucy is a very gentle, sweet-natured girl who was rescued from a hoarding situation. Because of her past, she is currently quite timid and unsure of the world around her and is still learning what it means to feel safe in a home environment.

At this time, Lucy prefers the comfort of her crate and spends much of her time there as she continues to decompress. While she may keep her distance at first, there is a calm, kind soul underneath her fear, and with patience, quiet support, and understanding, she has strong potential to blossom into a deeply loyal companion.

Temperament & Socialization:
Lucy is nervous in new situations and around unfamiliar people, dogs, and environments. She tends to avoid interaction rather than react, which shows she is fearful but not aggressive. She has not yet fully opened up, but she remains gentle, quiet, and non-reactive.

Her world is currently very small, and she is only comfortable with familiar routines and surroundings. She is still building confidence and learning that the world is a safe place.

She will continue to need patience, consistency, and gentle encouragement as she builds confidence and learns to trust.

Good With:
Dogs: Good with slow, proper introductions
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Older, calm children recommended
Men & Women: Nervous but non-reactive

What Lucy Needs in a Forever Home:
Lucy is not yet ready for a high-demand home environment and would thrive best in a calm, patient setting where she can continue decompressing at her own pace.

Her ideal home would include:

- A quiet, low-traffic environment
- A secure backyard (required)
- A slow and steady approach to building trust
- Gentle, pressure-free interactions
- A consistent routine and understanding family

Lucy is not suitable for condo or apartment living. She would do best in a home with outdoor space where she can safely explore and begin to gain confidence at her own pace. An overall calm but slightly active, outdoor-oriented lifestyle will help her continue to grow.

Lucy is a special girl who simply needs time, patience, and compassion. As she begins to feel safe, we are confident her soft and loving personality will slowly begin to shine through.

Fostered in Scotland, ON
