Lucy's Story

Meet Lucy: The 39‑Pound Comedy Queen

If you’ve ever wished your home came with its own built‑in comedian, vocalist, and professional snuggler, allow us to introduce Lucy — a 7‑year‑old English Setter who is petite in size but enormous in personality.

Lucy is an orange‑and‑white beauty with a sparkle in her eye and a sense of humor that could win awards. She greets life with enthusiasm, joy, and her signature “roo‑roo” serenade — a heartfelt song she performs whenever she sees you, thinks about you, remembers you exist, or suspects you might be holding a treat. Basically, she’s a one‑dog musical.

Her Special Skills Include:

Singing (mostly about snacks, but occasionally about love)
Comedy (intentional or accidental — both are excellent)
Snuggling (advanced level)
Bed‑hogging (she insists it’s “sharing”)
Great with house and crate training
Lucy is a medium‑energy gal who enjoys a good romp but is equally thrilled to curl up beside you afterward. She’s affectionate, sweet, and fully prepared to become your nightly cuddle buddy. In fact, she would love to sleep on your bed — and she promises to keep the roo‑roo concerts to daytime hours.

Lucy is looking for a home with a 6 foot fenced yard and a person that enjoys going/being outside with your dogs. She does have a typical field ES prey drive and secure fencing is a must for most of our breed.

She is great with other dogs in her foster home. She is stiff when meeting new dogs so taking time to introduce will ease her into her new home. She has never growled or snapped at the dogs in her foster home and she tolerates another Setter foster being overly affectionate with her quite well. We think she could be a candidate to be an only dog because she’s not needy about the companionship of other dogs. She was not good with cats in a foster home with a local rescue prior to coming to SWESR.

If you’re looking for a joyful, silly, loving companion who will make you smile every single day, Lucy is your girl. She’s ready to bring laughter, music, and warmth to her forever home.
