Lucy's Story

We received some wonderful updates from Lucy's foster, and this girl is truly blossoming.
Lucy took a few days to decompress and catch up on muchneeded rest, but once she felt safe, her personality began to peek through. She's quickly (re)learning her "good girl" skills - she already knows place and come, and she's working hard on sit and stay. She's a quiet soul, too. It actually took a full week before she barked for the first time, happily joining her foster siblings to greet the neighbors.
She's doing beautifully in her kennel and is having the best time playing with her foster siblings, even while she's still learning how to share all the things. Her foster has noticed a bit of resource guarding with the things she claims - her person, toys, her kennel, and one of the dogs - but she's been incredibly gentle with their much smaller, blind senior pup. That soft heart is still very much intact.
Lucy absolutely loves the snow, and she'll be starting some 1:1 training with the wonderful team at Sublime on Monday to help her continue building confidence and structure.
But above all, Lucy is a snuggle bug. She wants to be near her human at all times and is learning how to selfsoothe with tether time and a cozy bed.
Huge praise to her foster for giving her exactly what she needs: patience, structure, love, and a safe place to grow. Lucy is thriving because someone believed in her.
2nd foster update:
Lucy continues to amaze me. Just had our 2nd 1:1 training with the wonderful Kayla @ Sublime K9 Training & Boarding, LLC. We're already on heel walk. Lucy is solid on sit, place, kennel and working on down & longer stay holds with distractions.
She loves her foster siblings (Rottweiler, Pitt/lab mix, and smaller blind senior dog). Definitely high energy and loves to play.
