Lucky's Story

Lucky was found limping and crying alone on a rural Northeast Texas road — likely hit by a car and left behind. He was scared, in pain…but still licking the hand that lifted him into safety.

What followed was a $1,500+ vet bill - orthopedic surgery to repair his broken hip, full vaccinations, neuter, and weeks of recovery. All covered and coordinated by the people who found him — someone who didn’t look away when it wasn’t their mess to fix.

Lucky’s name isn’t just cute. It’s earned. He is sweet, smart, and so ready to love big. Goofy, food-motivated, and eager to please (this boy will sit for snacks like it’s a career path). He’s potty trained, and rides well in the car. He’s currently living peacefully with three small, grumpy senior dogs — despite their constant side-eyes — and he handles it all with a heart of gold.

We think Lucky would thrive with an active family, and ideally another playful dog around his size. He loves to zoom around the yard, cuddle up on the couch, and learn new tricks (when snacks are involved.)

Lucky is being fostered by the same people who rescued him — the ones who saw him through everything. This is what real care looks like. And now that he’s ready for his forever, we want to make sure that whoever adopts him knows: you’re not just getting a dog. You’re getting a survivor. A story. A second chance.

7 Pups from the Pines TX's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting from 7 Pups from the Pines. Every animal in our care matters to us—deeply. This isn’t just about finding homes. It’s about finding the right home for the dog, based on who they are and what they need. The Process • To begin, fill out our adoption questionnaire. It’s not a test—it’s just the first step toward understanding what you’re looking for and whether we might have a dog who could be a good fit. • We’ll review your application and follow up if we believe there’s a possible match. This is a conversation, not an interrogation. We want to get to know you and help you get to know the dog. • If it still feels like a good fit after that, we’ll set up a Meet & Greet so you and the dog can interact and spend some time together. Depending on the situation, it might happen at your home, the foster’s home, or sometimes a neutral spot. • If both sides are interested in moving forward, we’ll send you a copy of our adoption contract to review and allow each party time to thoughtfully consider the decision. • When finalizing the adoption, we’ll either deliver the dog to your home or—if you’re outside our area—we may ask you to travel to us, depending on the situation. We’ll then sign the contract, provide their records, and hand off any supplies or comfort items that belong to the dog. What We Consider We review applications on a case by case basis. The right fit depends entirely on the individual dog and their needs. What works for one won’t work for another, and we take that seriously. Some dogs need fenced yards. Some don’t. Some are great with kids or cats. Others aren’t. We’re not looking for a perfect home—we’re looking for the right home. For puppies, we typically don’t approve placements where they’ll be left alone for long stretches of the day on a regular basis. Early socialization and structure are crucial. What We Expect We expect that every dog adopted from 7 Pups will: • Live primarily indoors as a member of the family— not in a garage, on a chain, or in the yard. • Receive consistent vet care, including heartworm prevention, vaccinations, and treatment for injury or illness. • Have access to clean water, good food, safe shelter, and daily exercise. • Be returned to us if you can’t keep them. We don’t allow rehoming through friends, Craigslist, or anywhere else. They come back to us—no exceptions. If you have other pets, they must be spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm prevention unless there’s a valid medical reason. Non-Discrimination We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our adoption practices. We do not discriminate based on age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, income, or anything else unrelated to your ability to provide a safe, loving home that meets the dog’s individual needs. What Matters to Us This work is personal. We love these dogs. We know them well—their quirks, their trauma, their preferences—and the people who foster them love them too. When you adopt from us, we expect an ongoing relationship—one built on trust, transparency, and mutual care. We want to know how they’re doing. We want to stay in their story. And if you ever need us, we’re here.
