Lucius's Story

Meet Lucius Lucius is a 5-year-old, 55-lb pitbull who can be a little shy when he first meets you or finds himself somewhere new. Give him a little time, though, and you’ll see his goofy side come out. Once he trusts you, he loves being next to his person, whether that means curling up on the couch or chewing on a toy right by your feet. When he gets excited, his whole body turns into a wiggle! He’s a pretty laid-back guy and would be happy with a couple of good walks each day. He’s doing really well with loose-leash walking and has been learning clicker training. He loves other dogs and has done well with cats when introduced the right way. He’s also been working on getting more comfortable around busy places, new people, and other dogs out in public.Lucius has been in the shelter for a while, but he’s done surprisingly well settling into a home. He’s very quiet and completely potty-trained — not a single accident! Once he decides you’re his person, he’ll happily follow you around and be your constant companion. He’d do best with a patient owner and a calm home where he can take his time getting comfortable. He can be unsure around men, so gentle handling and good boundaries are important. He may need a little time to realize he’s safe, but once he does, you’ll have a goofy, loving dog who really just wants to be by your side.
