Lucas got his wires crossed a little bit and seems to think he's a cat! A dog-loving cat, that is. He is great with others of all ages and would thrive with a confident dog to guide him in a home. He is a very quiet and calm boy with really nice manners and a love of treats. But, cat-like, he prefers to live in the background. He might follow you and observe your goings on...or not. He's not a cuddle bug and will move off under too much social pressure. The Animal Shelter - Calhoun County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
We are open by appointment. Please inquire before visiting the shelter to make the right match. Please only bring small children after narrowing the field to a few dogs you want to meet in the outdoor play yard. An approved application is required and most dogs will need a fenced yard. Tethering, chaining, and roaming are unacceptable.  All animals are vaccinated and will be spayed/neutered and microchipped (dogs) prior to leaving the shelter. This is a real bargain, as our adoption fee of $125 for dogs and $75 for cats is much lower than the average vetting bill!
