Louise's Story
Tiny Legs. Blue Eyes. Unsupervised Ideas.

Louise is an 8-pound blonde merle Dachshund mix with gorgeous blue eyes, tiny legs, and the kind of confidence usually reserved for people who have never checked their bank account before ordering appetizers.

Around here, she goes by Louie.

Born in January 2026, Louie isn’t expected to get much bigger. Her mama is only about 13 pounds, and honestly, that feels like responsible planning. There is already a surprising amount of personality packed into these eight pounds.

Louie goes outside like somebody just rang the bell for recess. First order of business: find something. A toy. A stick. A rock. Some random object that apparently has excellent vibes. She grabs it, tosses it into the air, catches it on the way down, and immediately takes off on a full-speed lap around the yard.

Nobody threw it for her. Louise does not require staff. She is the athlete, the equipment manager, and the halftime entertainment.

And those tiny legs are FAST. Louie absolutely loves playing chase with other dogs and happily plays with pups of all sizes. Her signature move is crouching down in the grass like a tiny blonde tiger preparing to pounce. She’ll freeze. She’ll stare. She’ll wiggle that little butt and wait for exactly the right moment.

There is only one flaw in this hunting technique.
Everybody can see her.
Louie remains confident in the strategy.

Then she launches, the other dog takes off, and suddenly eight pounds of Dachshund is flying across the yard like somebody owes her money.

A pup sibling would be right up Louie’s alley. She would LOVE another dog to catch the zoomies with around the yard, play chase, and occasionally agree to be hunted by a very small tiger with extremely blue eyes. Big dogs don’t intimidate her, little dogs make great friends, and Louie seems to operate under the reasonable philosophy that if you can run, you can play.

Louie is brave, curious, and independent enough to venture off and conduct her own little outdoor adventures. She doesn’t need to spend the entire afternoon attached to a person’s ankle. There are smells to smell. Things to inspect. And, every so often, a perfectly innocent patch of grass that requires excavation.

Because the Dachshund software came fully installed- Louie loves making herself a little dig spot just to see what might be underneath. Could be treasure. Could be a bug. Could be dirt. But imagine not checking.

For all that independence, Louie has a wonderfully affectionate side. She doesn’t spend the day begging to be held, but once playtime is over, she is more than happy to be scooped up, cradled like a baby, and cuddled while she settles in. It’s one of the sweetest things about her—Louie has her own little world to explore, but she also knows exactly how nice it is to curl up with her people when the adventures are finished.

Inside, Louie is still very much Louie. She loves to play and have fun, but she also settles in beautifully and lets a little more of that affectionate side come out. Once the adventures slow down, she’s happy to curl up close, soak up some cuddles, hand out kisses, and enjoy being loved on. She may be an independent little explorer, but she’s also got a soft side—and apparently it comes with kisses.

And then there’s the face. Blonde merle coat. Tiny Dachshund body. Those absolutely ridiculous blue eyes. Louise looks like somebody spent a lot of time designing a very fancy little dog and, right before sending her down, checked the box marked “give her a sense of humor.”

She’s happy. She’s brave. She’s curious. She loves other dogs. She can turn one stick into an entire afternoon and an ordinary backyard into the Daytona 500. She’ll stalk her dog sibling from a hiding place that does not exist, investigate what’s underneath the grass, throw her own toys, catch her own zoomies, and then come inside ready to be held like a baby.

Louise is the kind of little dog who makes an ordinary Tuesday feel like something is happening. And whoever gets to call Louie theirs is going to spend a whole lot of years laughing at her... right before realizing this hilarious little blue-eyed girl has completely stolen their heart.

+++++++

ADOPTION APPLICATION:
https://form.jotform.com/260401018308040

+++++++

Louise is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to the perfect forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week!

+++++++

What Is a Benefactor Dog or Puppy, and Why Is the Adoption Fee Higher?

Benefactor dogs and puppies are typically purebreds or high-demand rescues who tend to find homes quicklyeven with a higher adoption fee. These dogs play a special role in our mission.

Their increased fees help cover the costs for dogs who need much more time, care, and resources before theyre ready for adoption. Some dogs spend monthseven over a yearin our care, requiring expensive surgeries, heartworm treatment, behavioral training, or ongoing medical support.

By adopting a Benefactor dog, you're not only giving them a loving homeyoure also helping to fund the second chance of another dog still waiting for theirs. Its a meaningful way to make a difference beyond just one life.

+++++++

The Truth About Rescue:

Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again.

Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.

+++++++

Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com.

Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.

Check out all of our adoptable pups and learn more about our rescue on our website: www.stmuttsrescue.com
