Louie's Story

Apply to Adopt Me!

Meet Louie, a 13 to 15-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua with a calm, independent personality and a heart full of quiet companionship. Louie is the definition of a low-maintenance buddy—he enjoys being near his people but is happiest simply sharing space rather than being the center of attention. He’s mostly housebroken and does well with a routine. Like many seniors, he may need a quick potty break during the night if he’s crated, but he settles nicely and sleeps well otherwise. Louie is not leash trained and we are requiring a home with a secure yard where he can comfortably go out to potty. Louie absolutely loves going outside, hanging out, and doing "laps" in the yard, as you can see in his video. Louie gets along with other dogs who respect his space—he’s not interested in playing and prefers a peaceful, drama-free environment. He feels the same about people: he’s not a cuddler, but he enjoys being nearby and part of your day. He’s polite in the car and travels quietly, though rides can make him a bit nervous. He has a good appetite, loves super soft treats, and brings a steady, easygoing presence to the home. Louie would thrive in a quiet household with someone who appreciates a more independent companion—think of him as your tiny, loyal roommate. Louie came to Lil Rascals when his owners were moved to a long-term care facility. He has diminished vision due to cataracts, but he can see. He can hear loud sounds only. He seems to have had a dental not too long ago, but it was discovered he has an oronasal fistula, which does not seem to be causing him any discomfort and he has no symptoms, but he will need to be fed a soft diet. Due to his age, Lil Rascals has decided not to put him through surgery for it. Louie also has stage 2 kidney disease and needs to continue on a prescription kidney diet. Louie just needs a comfortable, quiet, all-adult home to enjoy the remainder of his days. If you believe you have the perfect home for senior boy Louie, please complete an app and tell us more about you.
