Louie-ADOPTED!!'s Story

Louie is a sweet, friendly, 2 year old Shih Tzu who ended up at the shelter because he is a bolter --- that means that Louie likes to run out open doors. Since he has a history of running out doors, we must request that he only be adopted into an 'experienced dog owners only family' and with no small children under 12 years of age. We had to have him shaved down because he had not had any grooming. His new coat will come in long and silky with a peach hue to it.

Update from foster mom: Louie is a lovable, playful and most of all cute little guy. He is your quintessential lap dog. That is his happy place. He gets along well with my dogs and learned quickly his place in the pack. He loves to play with humans too, and will jump around you until you pay attention. He has the cutest under bite that adds personality to his already human like face. He seems to be house trained, since he has not gone in my house. He is not good in the crate though. I do let him in a confined area when I am not home and he has not chewed or destroyed anything.

I tested Louie with my nieces, since we were told that he was surrendered because he did not get along with the children in the family. He was fine with the twelve year old since she knows how to handle dogs. The nine year old though, became a little overzealous with carrying him around and trying to make him sit with her.

PLEASE NOTE: He gave her a warning growl, though he did not snap. Therefore we will not allow him to go to a home with children under twelve years old. No exceptions!

If you are a family with older children who want a little dog to hang out with you and cuddle, he is the one.

If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.
www.lostandfounddogrescue.org

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet & gentle dispositions, have lived in foster homes with families, and have had the following:

SPAYED/NEUTERED

Microchipping

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Worming

PLEASE NOTE: We do not place puppies in homes where they will be left alone all day. Part-time is ok. Puppies, like babies, need lots of attention, socialization and cuddles. We do not feel that it is humane to leave them in a crate for 8-10 hours at a time. .

If you are applying for an adult dog, we do expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) 'potty break' daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to 'hold it' for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our 'shelter kids' to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD

We also have a wonderful all day Doggy Day Care service:
Fuzzy Butts Doggy Day Care in Chadds Ford, PA
www.fuzzybuttsPA.com
(I have visited this facility and it is wonderful and reasonable)
