Louie's Story

Louie can be very sweet and mellow but also playful.
HISTORY
He was born into our care after his momma, Maven, was picked up as a stray.

Louie is located in Walla Walla, Washington at his foster home. We advertise our dogs in a variety of locations in an effort to improve their chances of finding great homes. We can assure you, this pup is well worth a road trip! However, if necessary we will arrange transport to bring him to an approved adoptive home within the Pacific Northwest.

SOCIALIZATION
Louie is a puppy and completely puppy like behavior; his exposure to other animals has been limited and can easily be trained to accept anything in the animal world at this age.

His ideal home could have human children, other pets of any type and any type of animals. Ideally he would be well socialized and taken on family outings, taught appropriate skills to become his best version.

He's been in a foster home with children 4 years and up, other adult dogs and the 9 of them including his momma which is giving him so much more learning - behaviors that are appropriate - he's going to be well rounded as an adult.

GENERAL TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Puppies have not experienced the world yet and it is up to you to teach them what is safe, comfortable and about dangers like cars or reactive dogs.

TRAINING
We recommend signing him up for a local puppy training class and continue to train even after the class.

Louie is just a baby, he is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. He'd love you to take him to school so he can learn ALL the skills he needs to be his best self. This would be beneficial for you as his pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with him and teach him to be confident. He is still working on potty training.

It's important to remember: Louie is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little boy is just getting started - he has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as he's concerned, anything and everything is for play. He still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. He will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Louie unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise him right!

HEALTH STATUS
General info
He is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. He appears to be in good health. Once full grown, he will likely be somewhere in the 45 lbs. range.

HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so Louie has not been sterilized. You will be required in terms of the adoption contract to have your pup sterilized by the time they are 6 months old. At your request, HART will refund you $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization at your expense.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for Louie is $425. For more pictures of Louie, see his Facebook album at Louie on Facebook
(https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1316246170656469&type=3)

To apply to adopt Louie, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-137 or email HearthfireART@gmail.com and request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
