Lottie Wirehaired Terrier & Wirehaired Dachshund Mix Lawrenceville, GA

Lottie is a special puppy who needs a special home. This tiny, chocolate Wirehaired Terrier mix is nine weeks old and she currently weighs about 3.5 pounds. Lottie came to us a month ago from a local shelter. She was turned in as a stray and sadly had a large chemical burn down the middle of her back. Lottie was understandably fearful of humans and screamed when touched. Her foster mom has painstakingly cared for her injury, as well as her wounded spirit. Lottie has finally gotten the all-clear from our vet to be adopted. Her hair will grow back eventually but there will always be noticeable scarring, both seen and unseen.

Lottie has gained some confidence over the past few weeks, but she is still timid and sensitive. She gets her feelings hurt easily, so she requires gentle handling and a peaceful home environment. Lottie cannot go to a home with any young children or rowdy dogs who might re-injure her healing wounds (even accidentally in play). A calm, small dog or two could be greatly beneficial to helping her feel comfortable in her new home. Lottie is not leash-trained and she cannot wear a harness at this time, so she requires a securely fenced yard as she begins the process of house-training. Lottie has come a long way and she will be a treasure for the lucky person who gets to welcome her home.
