Loretta's Story
Introducing Loretta

Loretta didn’t have the gentle beginning she deserved. She was abandoned outside in the sweltering heat, unspayed, unvetted, and left to fend for herself. She had at least one litter of puppies that we know of, and heartbreakingly, all but one did not survive the harsh conditions. When we learned she was at risk of being dumped, we were incredibly fortunate to secure a foster home for both Loretta and her surviving baby, Lyn (she has since been adopted).

Today, Loretta is safe, loved, and finally thriving as an indoor dog.

Now that she knows what comfort and kindness feel like, her beautiful personality shines brighter every day. In true Great Pyrenees fashion, Loretta is calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet. She enjoys exploring the outdoors and lounging in the sunshine, but she’s just as happy curling up on her dog bed beside you at night.

At an estimated 5 years old, she’s the perfect blend of relaxed and playful. She’ll happily join you for a walk or hike, then settle in for a cozy evening on the couch. She is potty trained, leash trained, ride well in the car and has wonderful house manners. Loretta has been around children including toddlers and adores them. She may be a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly once she feels safe.

She’s currently fostered with other dogs and does well with them, though she appreciates slow, proper introductions to build her confidence.

Loretta’s dream forever home is one where she’ll be cherished like the queen she is. While she doesn’t need a highly active lifestyle, she does enjoy walks and room to stretch her legs so a securely fenced yard is a must.

She is currently finishing heartworm treatment and will be ready to transport to her forever home in early April. She is currently weighing in at 59lbs but is still slightly underweight.

Loretta is being fostered in Houston, Texas, but she is available for adoption in many locations across the country. Her $600 adoption fee includes transport.

If you’re ready to give this gentle soul the life she’s always deserved, apply today:
https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog

Loretta has survived so much now she’s ready for her happily ever after.
