What is Miami-Dade Animal Services’s adoption process?

Adults 18 years of age, or older, can adopt a pet from our Pet Adoption and Protection Center. Dogs: Puppies and kittens under four months of age come with their first set of vaccines, de-worming, spay or neuter surgery*, microchip and FeLV test for cats. Dogs and cats over four months come with all vaccinations, de-worming, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, heartworm test (over six months of age), rabies license tags (for Miami-Dade County residents only) and FeLV test for cats. Adoption fees for dogs over 4 months are $65. Adoption fees for puppies under 4 months are $75. Cats: Adopt 1 or 2 felines for the same price $35. Cats and Kittens come with all vaccinations including FIV de-worming microchip and heartworm test (over 6 months in age) spay/neuter surgery* * Animals under 3 months, less than 3 pounds or have health issues, will not be sterilized or vaccinated for rabies. A $50 refundable deposit will be required and an appointment will be scheduled for the spay/neuter surgery within 30 days or when they are 4 months of age.
