Lola's Story

This charming little lady is Lola. She is a moderately active 4 1/2 year old beagle who is looking for her forever home. Lola is doing well with house training, recognized bells as a signal to go outside but this training will need to be completed by her family. She is crate trained, keeps her crate clean and dry, sleeps through the night and stays crated when left alone in the home. Lola walks fairly well on lead but here again, this training will need to be completed in her new home.
Lola thoroughly enjoys running and playing in her foster's fenced in yard. She interacts well with the neighbor's dog as the run along the fence line exchanging
"conversation". While she freely runs around the yard carrying a stuffed toy, she still needs some work understanding the fetch game. Once she's expelled her energy running outside and chasing squirrels, Lola looks forward to cuddles, belly rubs and naps with her human companions. Loud and unexpected noises and fireworks are not Lola's most favorite. She will be startled that the curious beagle will look for the source of the noise. Riding in the car is also not a favorite activity, and she may express some anxiety by drooling - something she is likely to overcome in the future.
We are looking for a moderately active family who would like Lola to join them at all types of outdoor activities such as picnics, soccer games, walks and interacting with other dogs in the park. Lola loves meeting adults, children and other dogs and her foster mom says" Lola is a sweet loving dog. She is growing and learning more every day. I believe she will be easy to trin. Lola has a quirly personality that makes her fun to be with."
If you believe Lola is the beagle you are looking for, begin the Adoption Process by submitting the Dog Adoption Application found on our website www.happypawsrescue.org under the ADOPT tab.

Thinking about adopting me? Here’s how:
1. Fill out an application found at www.happypawsrescue.org under the *ADOPT* tab.
2. Please allow 5-7 business days for us to review and respond to your application.
3. Approved applicants will be invited to come meet me at a scheduled meet and greet or adoption event.
4. If both you and the rescue agree that the dog you meet is a good fit for your home, you will fill out an adoption contract and exchange a small adoption fee. Your dog can go home the day of the Meet & Greet.
5. We generally adopt to families within a 90 mile radius of our home base in Piscataway, NJ but may consider farther distances in the tri-state region if volunteers are available. We specialize in the rescue of dogs and cats from high-kill shelters where the prospect of permanent placement is unlikely. We also serve as an educational resource for the public regarding the prevention of cruelty to animals, in addition to spay and neuter awareness to reduce the population of homeless and stray dogs and cats. By working with committed volunteers and veterinarians, we provide all dogs and cats in our care with medical attention and a safe haven prior to placement in their permanent, loving homes.
