Lola's Story

Lola arrived like a small miracle—24 hours away from being erased, and instead choosing to stay. She’s a dog who believes, quite sincerely, that she might be a little cat: curling into you for hours, craving closeness, reading her person with a quiet, almost human attentiveness. She loves to be held, loves to be near, loves to belong.

She is wonderfully willing—eager to learn, eager to please, especially if food is involved (and food is always involved). Training comes naturally to her, powered by curiosity and a love of treats. On walks, Lola is pure wonder. She loves movement, fresh air, and the thrill of meeting new friends. Dogs, cats—she’s so hopeful she now checks under parked cars, just in case a new companion might be waiting there. And when the adventure ends, she transforms completely into a professional couch potato, happiest melted into cushions, warm and safe beside you.

Lola has bat ears that listen to everything and human eyes that make everyone fall in love without realizing it happened.

She’s thriving in a Brooklyn apartment and feels completely at ease in small spaces, so don’t let New York living stop you. She doesn’t dig through trash, doesn’t steal food from tables (even though her foster is a notorious snacker and temptation has been constant). She chooses trust over chaos, every time.

Lola is proof that grace can survive the edge. She was given a second chance and turned it into gentleness, loyalty, and quiet joy. Whoever finds her next won’t just be adopting a dog—they’ll be continuing a life that almost didn’t get to happen.
