Loki (previously Trigger)'s Story

Loki is also nervous as he learns what the good life looks like, but he is already showing us what a sweetheart he is. He warms up to people quickly, seeks affection, and is very much a velcro dog. He wants to be close to his person and is already craving the comfort and security he has never had before.

Like Boomer, Loki is clearly not used to life in a home, but he is learning. He needs to be leash walked until he bonds and understands that he is safe, even with a privacy fence. He spent too long running loose in the woods where he came from, and because of that, containment is still something he does not fully understand yet. He can clear a shorter fence, not because he is trying to run away, but because he simply does not yet understand that he no longer has to.

He is learning his crate and doing well, just at his own pace. He does have some separation anxiety, so helping him feel safe and secure is especially important for him. He meets people well, is very easy to handle, and allows whatever needs to be done without issue. He is sweet, gentle, and trying so hard to figure out how to be someone’s dog after surviving a life where he had to fend for himself.

Both of these boys are safe for now, but temporary safety is not the same as a forever home. They are learning, healing, and showing us every day that they are worth the patience, love, and understanding it will take to help them fully settle into the lives they should have always had.
