Loki's Story

Meet Loki, a 10-year-old, 45lbs Husky/Heeler mix who is looking for something she may never have truly had before: a place where she feels safe.

Loki was rescued at the last minute alongside her sister, Luna. Initially, we thought the two were simply inseparable. But since getting to know Loki, we’ve realized that what she was really getting from Luna was confidence.

Loki is a sensitive girl who is anxious around new people, unfamiliar places, and new situations. She needs time to settle in and learn that the people around her aren’t going anywhere. But once she begins to trust you, you get to see the dog hiding underneath all that uncertainty.

And she is pretty wonderful.

Loki loves affection and wants so badly to be close to her person. She is a serious Velcro dog who will happily become your little shadow and curl up beside you whenever she gets the chance.

Other dogs have also become an important part of Loki’s world. She watches them, follows their lead, and learns from them. Because of that, we believe she would do best in a home with a calm, easygoing, confident dog who can show her the ropes.

Interestingly, Loki also has a wonderfully motherly side. She is incredibly patient with younger dogs and puppies - We could easily see her thriving with a younger canine companion who lets her take on that nurturing role.

Loki is not destructive when left alone, although she can become anxious.
