Lizy's Story

Meet Lizy!

This adorable little long-haired Dachshund mix is cute as could be, so its extra shocking that she somehow ended up on the euthanasia list at our local shelter. We saw her sweet little face and knew we couldn't let that be the end of her story and thankfully a wonderful foster family said yes, saving her life!

Now, on to the best part: Lizy herself.

Lizy can be a little scared when she first meets you. She's had a lot of changes in a very short amount of time, and she's still figuring out the world and learning that she's safe. But once she has the chance to get to know you and settle into her surroundings, her personality comes out. She is playful, loving, silly, and really just the sweetest little girl. She will even roll over for belly rubs once she knows you won't hurt her. She is pretty much potty trained (unless you don't hear her cue to go outside) and is working on kennel training.

Lizy is tiny, weighing only about 11 pounds and is estimated to be 1 year old, but she isn't a huge fan of being picked up. She has a cloudy eye that affects her vision on that side, so we think being unexpectedly scooped up can startle her when she doesn't see it coming. Because of this, we don't think a home with young children would be the best fit for her.

Her dream home? Someone who is around quite a bit and will give her the time and patience she needs to feel comfortable. And if you have a playful dog already? Even better! Lizy absolutely LOVES playing with other dogs and would adore having a fun fur sibling to romp around with.

Lizy really is the best, sweetest girl. She's just a little misunderstood, with a touch of that classic little dog syndrome we all know and love. Give her a little time to trust you, and you'll get to see just how special she really is.

If you think Lizy could be your next best friend, apply today!

Lizy is located in Houston, Texas, but is available for adoption around the country. If you're seeing this listing, its because we have a transport stop near you.

Adoption fee: $600, which includes transport.

The first step in our adoption process is submitting an application:
https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog
