Liza's Story
Have you been endlessly scrolling adoption sites in search of an adorable lap dog with personality plus to join your family? Well...as the 80's band Survivor once sang, "the search is oooover"...meet Liza! This cutie is around 2 years old and weighs 26 lbs. We think she is a cattle dog mixed with something small and cuddly because she has the “red heeler” ears and coloring and a lap dog personality.

She’s got a sweet personality and will give you little kisses if you ask. If you are looking for a chair/couch partner who is down to snuggle and binge watch your favorite shows, she’s your girl! She would do fine as an only dog but she could also live with other dogs as she gets along great with her 2 foster dog sisters. Liza is not fostered with cats, but she recently met a cat on a walk in her foster family's neighborhood, and she was very respectful and calm. We can set up a formal "cat test" for any adopters with cats who are interested in Liza.

She's not super active but she does enjoy sniffing around the fenced yard or hanging out with you while you do projects. Otherwise, she is content to just hang out with you indoors.

She is housetrained and good in a crate. She currently sleeps in a crate as well as stays in a crate when we are away from home but would likely do fine with more freedom once she adjusts to a new home. She's a wonderful girl and deserves a family just as wonderful as she is!

Liza was surrendered to a crowded public pound in Louisiana in September with her 2 puppies. Her pups were quickly adopted, but Liza was in danger simply due to the shelter having no space. She was pulled by a Louisiana rescue and will be ready for a New England home in early November.

Liza’s photo album with extra photos and videos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/r6vQ6rMwrhj97tXA6

Liza is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations and deworming, heartworm negative and current on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Upon rescue she did test positive for ehrlichia (a tick borne disease), but is on meds and should be all clear at the end of October.

Liza is currently in foster care in North Louisiana, but we welcome out of state adoptions. We have an amazing transport that delivers all along the East Coast... PA, NJ, CT, NY, VT.

PAWS of NE LA was formed back in 2003 and we have been sending our special Southern dogs to wonderful homes up North since 2010.
