Little Sophie Australian Shepherd Oklahoma City, OK

Sophie is a 6 year old toy Aussie. She came to us a bit overweight but has done a
good job getting her trim figure back and will need a family willing to help her get
regular exercise. She loves, loves, loves to play ball, play in the water and stay
active. The more she stays occupied the better she does. She can become whiny
and fussy if she does not get enough ball play time. She is crate and house trained.
However, Sophie prefers only to be in her crate for meal times and will whine and
carry on if left in there for very long. She can do well with dogs her size if given her
space but may do best as an only dog. She's a sweet girl but can grumble some
towards other dogs if they get in her space, especially during ball play, or too close
to her human, so she will need a home with an experienced dog owner who can
help her understand expectations and boundaries. She does fine with cats. She can
be overwhelmed with larger dogs but has improved in her foster home. She
occasionally has some mild resource guarding so will need a family that
understands and knows how to manage her. She does not like the busy energy of
small children and will not be placed in a home with children or grandchildren under
age 12 or a home that plans to have children in the near future. She will not be
placed in an apartment and would do best with someone home more often than not
as she can be vocal at times. Although she likes to lay on the bed with her human
for sleep time, Sophie is independent and is not super cuddly. She comes for
attention when she desires otherwise prefers her own space. SHE IS NOT A
CUDDLY LAP DOG! She needs a fenced yard so that she can run and play and catch
her ball.
