Lisa's Story

Meet Lisa

5-6 years old | 37 lbs | Terrier/Dalmatian mix

Lisa was found wandering near a school in a small rural South Louisiana town, and it's clear life hasn't always been kind to her. We believe she may have been used for breeding, and her worn teeth, patchy skin, and tired little body tell the story of a dog who deserves a much softer next chapter.

And soft is exactly Lisa's style. She's a low-energy, couch potato queen who wants nothing more than to be your shadow and soak up love. She's friendly with everyone, does great meeting other dogs, and is cat friendly-although she wouldn't mind helping them finish their food.

Lisa is potty trained and walks beautifully on leash, staying right by your side without pulling. She could be an especially wonderful companion for someone older, retired, working from home, or simply looking for a calm best friend.

Being with her people is Lisa's happy place. Her separation anxiety is improving, but she can still become anxious when left alone for longer periods. She'd thrive with someone who's home more often, and while a canine sibling may offer some extra comfort, it isn't a necessity.

Spayed
Up to date on vaccinations
Heartworm positive - treatment underway and covered

Lisa doesn't ask for much-a comfy couch, gentle walks, plenty of love, and a person she can call her own. After everything she's been through, she's more than ready for the soft life.

PLEASE READ BELOW:

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application.
*An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application*
All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.
For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed.
