Lily PENDING ADOPTION's Story

Lilly

4 years old and 12 lbs. Unfortunately her previous owners had to go to an assisted living facility and Lilly was surrendered.

Lily is very friendly to new people after a warm up period and curious with dogs. She is an ALPHA dog and likes to be in control; but, at the same time she wants to cuddle up with you on the sofa.

Favorite activities: Watching the world go by from the back of the sofa and playing with her toy. She will bark at the snow plow and loud cars going by your house.

Lily tries to engage other dogs that are near her size to play with her. She does bark at larger dogs on walks. Cats are an unknow, and we don't think she has ever lived with a cat.

She was reported to be house trained and goes out about every 5 hours. But, you can expect accidents until she gets used her new home and schedule. Overnight she can make a little longer and has to go out right away in the morning. Little dog, little bladder.

She is an escape artist and car chaser from what we have been told, so her new family MUST be careful about doors and she MUST be kept on a leash at all times outside of the home. She will go after bicycles and cars even while on a leash, so this must be monitored and owners must make sure she is always in her well fitted harness on walks.

Lily acts more like a 1 year old puppy. Still in shoe chew stage and very vocal for attention.

No children or grandchildren for this queen, she has a history of biting her groomers in the past, but did well with her last groomer who went extremely slow with her. When at the veterinarians they should have treats ready to keep her occupied and happy (and maybe some trazadone) especially if they want to look at her teeth. Lily is a really good girl but we don't think she has had training and guidance until she came into rescue. She is very intelligent and learns quickly. She knows sit and no.

She can be vocal when she wants something, or just because. Apartments might not be the best for this gal.

She is friendly but does not immediately go to new people for attention, after a few minutes she is everyone's friend.

We will accept applications and choose the right household for this prima donna.

NO CHILDREN....EVER.

YOUR ADOPTION FEE COVERS: Transport to Maine, age specific vaccinations, Health certificate, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/ehrlichia test, worming & martingale collar.

Adoption fees:
Through 6 months of age $450;
7 months to through 5 years $400;
6 years and under 9 years $325: bonded pairs are $500;
9 years and older $250: bonded pairs are $300

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning Pending Adoption. This dog is in foster care locally, ONLY if Maine is listed next to the dogs name; otherwise, the dog is still waiting with our partner rescue for an adoption or foster home in New England.

All dogs have a current Health Certificate for transport. All imported dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to getting on transport.ve had annual heartworm tests and are on heartworm preventative.

FOR PUPPIES: PLEASE READ!!
Homes considering Puppies must be prepared for:
Flexible Schedules for Potty Training. Puppies can only hold urine for one hour per month of age. Crate Training for the next 10 months to keep them safe from chewing on everything in your home. Supervision with Children and Obedience training.
Socialization; both with new people, children and other dogs outside of the home.
Homes that want a well behaved dog, must be prepared to put the time, effort and costs associated to train a puppy. Well behaved dogs are not born, they are trained! Please do not apply for a puppy if you cannot or do not have the time for a puppy.

Applications can be found at: www.almosthomerescue.net
