Lily's Story

Lily is a shy, sweet girl who was found roaming as part of an abandoned litter in Borger, Texas. She is currently fostered in the Amarillo, Texas area. She is estimated to have been born around July 25, 2025 and currently weighs about 40 pounds. Based on her size and features, she appears to be a large breed mix, possibly Labrador Retriever, Shar Pei, Mastiff, or bully-type mix.

Lily has a gentle, low-energy personality and prefers attention over food, though she is still very trainable with treats. She does well with other dogs and has been around kids, but due to her size, older children would be the best fit. She has not been exposed to cats. Lily is not a barker unless she gets spooked.

Like her siblings, Lily is still learning the basics. She needs a home prepared to continue house training, crate training, leash manners, and general household routines. She has started leash work and has spent some time in a crate, but she will need consistency and patience to help her succeed indoors. She is not suited to being an outdoor-only dog.

Lily is available through a foster-to-adopt program. Approved adopters will foster her while beginning basic training and routine building. Thanks to a generous donor, the adoption fee is waived, and adopters will receive $250 after the first week and an additional $250 after the second week to help cover training and care expenses. A rescue team member will check in weekly during this period.

Adoption application (copy and paste into your browser)
https://airtable.com/appklteyg5w2e0fmu/shrY8RxQc1KxQYCuv

Out of state adoptions are ALLOWED. We currently adopt to homes located in PA, NY, MD, DE, NJ, MA, CT, RI, OH, NH, OR, WA, SC, and FL. We will also adopt to homes located within 200-250 miles from Amarillo, TX 79101, and may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis for longer distances or other states. We call two personal non-family references (ie. friends, neighbors or co-workers) that are to be listed on the application. If there are any current pets in the home, we will call your Veterinarian as well to ensure all pets are up to date on state required vaccines and are spayed/neutered. Potential adopter must provide basic care for the life of the animal. An adoption contract must be thoroughly read, completed, and signed by the adopter before the adoption is complete. The adoption process could range anywhere from a few hours, up to a week. We do NOT hold dogs/puppies.
