Lily's Story
Calling All Bluey Fans... Meet Lily!

If you've fallen in love with Blue Heelers because of Bluey, we'd love to introduce you to a real-life Blue Heeler looking for a family of her own.

Meet Lily.

Lily is a sweet Blue Heeler who can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she's never shown aggression. She simply needs a little time and patience to realize she's safe.

To help prepare her for life in a home, Lily was selected to participate in Missouri's Puppies for Parolees program, where shelter dogs receive obedience training, socialization, and confidence-building while working with inmate trainers. The program helped Lily come out of her shell and gave her a wonderful foundation for success.

Unfortunately, after completing the program, she had to return to the shelter to continue waiting for a family.

Thankfully, her story took another positive turn when a foster stepped up to help. Lily is now attending daycare every day, where she continues building confidence, learning new skills, and becoming more comfortable in the world around her.

Watching Lily blossom has been incredibly rewarding.

She just needs someone willing to continue that journey.

With patience, kindness, and understanding, we believe Lily will become an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. She's looking for a family that will celebrate each little milestone and help her discover all the wonderful things life has to offer.

Every confident dog was once a puppy learning about the world. Lily is simply catching up—and she's making progress every single day.

If you have a soft spot for the gentle ones and understand that the best relationships are built on trust, Lily may be the perfect addition to your family.

Basics: She is a spayed female guessed to be around 2 yrs old and she weighs close to 45lbs.

Adoption Process:
- Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application

- One of our team members will get back to you via phone.
- Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding
- Adoption fee helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip.
-We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt. NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.

About Day of the Dogs
Day of the Dogs is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping shelter and rescue dogs find safety, families, and second chances.

Founded in 2015 by a Kansas City native, Day of the Dogs began after Pam moved to Houston, Texas and witnessed firsthand the devastating shelter overcrowding crisis facing southern communities, where some shelters have only days to find an outcome for homeless pets.

Today, Day of the Dogs coordinates life-saving transports from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other southern areas to rescue partners, shelters, fosters, and adopters in Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City region — communities where adoption demand can help create better outcomes for pets in need. We also focus on long stay dogs in the Greater Kansas City and surrounding rural areas to help those pets get out of kennels and into homes.
We also facilitate direct adoptions through our foster networks in both Kansas City and Northwest Indiana and partner with shelters and rescue organizations across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana to save more lives together.
Because every open foster home creates another opportunity to save a dog, we are always looking for foster families to join our mission.

Day of the Dogs operates entirely on donations. Every transport, veterinary appointment, supply purchase, and life saved is possible because of supporters who believe every dog deserves a chance.

Donate or learn more: www.dayofthedogs.org
