LILY's Story

LILY is a spunky yet quiet dog who is sensitive to her environment. Despite this sensitivity, she is a genuinely happy girl and often runs around with a little pep and hop — much like how happy baby goats bounce along 🙂

Lily came to us from one of the reservations we work with. Unfortunately, the humans in her home were not getting along, which was very distressing for Lily and her dog sister. The girls were closely attached to the woman in the household, but when she was forced to leave, Lily and her sister were left in a difficult and unsafe situation. Thankfully, a caring neighbor recognized what was happening and contacted our rescue so Lily could be brought to safety.

Lily’s adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, deworming, and microchip. Lily is medium-sized, weighing around 40 pounds, and we believe she is about four years old. She was born on one of the reservations we serve.

Lily would do best in a generally calm, loving home where kindness and gentle communication are the norm. She becomes concerned when people argue or when a human yells at an animal, and she’ll let out a soft, expressive little moan or bark to voice her disapproval. She would do well either with another dog (likely a male) or as a cherished companion with just her humans. Lily is crate trained and house trained, enjoys playing in the yard, and would likely enjoy hikes once she becomes more comfortable on leash (she’s currently a bit bouncy). She also very much loves her indoor naps 💤

If you're in the Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, White Rock, or Los Alamos area and feel Lily might be a good fit for your family, please email desertpawsnm@gmail.com to check availability and begin the application process. We would love to introduce you to this beautiful girl and help her find the safe, loving home she so deeply deserves.
