Lilo (Feldspar)'s Story
Meet Lilo

Lilo is currently enrolled in a 4-week board-and-train program with Tank's Top K9's, where she's continuing to build a strong foundation. She is both crate trained and potty trained, making her an easy addition to a routine. Lilo is very food motivated and eager to please, which makes training enjoyable and rewarding with her. She does tend to eat quickly, so using a slow feeder bowl is recommended to help pace her during mealtime.

Lilo is an approximately 1.5-year-old Cattle Dog / Pharaoh Hound / Pitty mix who can't seem to catch a break. After being adopted as a young puppy, she was dumped at a shelter by her former adopter who claimed she was a stray right before Christmas. Now, after she has settled back into foster care, she's been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

IBD is a chronic condition that causes inflammation in the digestive tract and requires lifelong management. Lilo will need to remain on a strict Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein diet indefinitely. This special diet uses proteins broken down into tiny unidentifiable compounds, so her immune system doesn't overreact, helping keep her tummy calm and comfortable. During flare-ups, she may also need probiotics and immune support supplements on an as-needed basis.

The good news? Lilo is doing wonderfully with proper management and is still the same sweet, silly girl at heart.

She does well with other dogs after a slow introduction — she prefers space at first but once she warms up, she loves to play and enjoys having a canine buddy. She would also do just fine being the only dog in the home. She's good with kids. However, she is not good with cats!

Lilo is looking for a committed forever family who understands her medical needs and will keep her on her prescribed diet and routine. In return, you'll get a resilient, loving, delightfully goofy girl who is so ready to finally be someone's forever.

Ready to give Lilo the break she deserves?

**Dog breeds listed are best guesses from veterinary professionals, they are never a guarantee. www.brownpawsrescue.com.
