Lili's Story
Lili is a 4 year old, 15 lb Miniature Schnauzer/Shih Tzu mix (per her previous owner) who recently joined our rescue. She came to us when a co-worker of one of our fosters reached out for help because her owner had to leave the country to enter assisted living. Her foster mom shares that Lili is a total Velcro dog who wants to stay within a couple of feet of her person at all times. She absolutely loves being in a lap or snuggled right up next to someone. Lili is nervous around children so she will need an adult only home. She does well around other dogs but isn't interested in playing and can become nervous around overly excited or hyper pups. She's happiest with calm dogs who respect her space, and she will let them know if they get too close for comfort. Lili would also do just fine as an only dog, as she has been for the past three years. Lili is potty trained, though she may have a small piddle when she gets excited or scared. She can be a little nervous when first approached or picked up but warms up quickly once she feels safe. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night, although she would much prefer to be curled up in bed with her person. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs.
