Lilah -- URGENT!!'s Story
URGENT!! LILAH NEEDS A HOME ASAP!! She is scared in the shelter. After being taken out to the play yard, she does not want to return to her kennel. Please be her savior!

Lilah is a 3-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. She has been at the shelter since October 3, 2025 and is ready for her new home.

Lilah is timid at the shelter and needs to be in a loving, supportive home so that she can build her confidence. Shelter staff have noted that she walks well on leash.

Pet ID: A1233204

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for high risk dogs. The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five months old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.

Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to understaffing.

PLEASE NOTE: Foster homes must be in Kern County. The dogs are in Bakersfield, not Thousand Oaks. CAPS can arrange transportation if you are on the West Coast.

https://caps-web.org/contact-caps/
*No phone calls, please.
