Lilah's Story

Lilah
1 year, 25lbs
Rescued in the Southwest

Meet Lilah! This joyful, kindhearted, affectionate, quirky 1-year-old, 25-pound girl greets life with genuine excitement. She's moderate-to-high energy and thoroughly people-oriented, loving every person she meets (she hasn't met kids yet) and approaching other dogs with friendly curiosity, though she's still building her social skills there. She's working through some alone-time whining and howling in the crate when she misses her people, but when you're home, she's happy to independently settle in for naps or bone-chewing sessions. One sweet, apartment-friendly quirk: she doesn't get riled up by hallway noise or new visitors, which is a big plus for close-quarters living.

Lilah is potty trained (after a brief excited-accident adjustment period), genuinely loves her crate, and is making great leash progress with some gentle guidance and treats to curb her pulling. She knows sit and stay, is picking up her name, come, and a wait-for-food cue, and being highly food-motivated makes training easy — though her enthusiasm means short, frequent training bursts work better than long sessions. Her favorite things are her tennis ball, a rope toy, and especially her antler bone, and her days are full of cuddling, walks, and trick practice. She's still working on jumping when excited, but she's eager to please and clearly wants to do right by her people. Lilah would do well in an active-to-moderate household, is great for apartment living, and would benefit from meeting any resident dogs first if there's already a pup at home. Her foster adores her attentive eye contact, her sweet, easygoing nature, and — of course — her wonderfully expressive, ever-changing ear positions, which are basically her signature look.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Lilah, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!
