Lila's Story

*PLEASE NOTE*: Expressing interest on PetFinder is welcome and encouraged, but all adoption applications must be submitted through the Rescued Rescuers website for consideration. She is friendly with all other dogs she has been in contact with, which includes large breeds, too. She is non-reactive - she doesn't bark or growl at other dogs. She really loves her walks with her foster brothers, and we do get her out every day that we can - rain is not our friend!

She knows how to use soft steps for getting up on furniture and getting up on the big bed. She sleeps in the big bed just great and will snuggle you most of the night! If she gets warm she comes out from under the blankets and stretches out beside you or near your pillow. Lila only has 3 little teeth left in her mouth, so we have her on a little bit of dry kibble mixed with stew to soften it up for her. She loves food! It's very important that she not be free fed! She does great with her 2 scheduled feedings daily.

Lila does have a narrow Atrial valve in her heart, which she is on Vetmedin twice a day for. We break her pill up and put it in her food and she has no issue taking it, but she will need to be on it the rest of her life, but it doesn't slow her down one bit! She is the happiest gal! The only time her tail isn't wagging is when she's sleeping!

We are currently still working on her house manners. She does really great if you are home with her all day, but we have had to kennel her when we are gone for long periods of time. She does fine in a kennel, but of course, prefers to be "free"! We have really watched her blossom and her unique personality shines! She would love to be an only dog, or does great with other dog siblings, she has not been tested with cats, but my guess is she would just fine! She is very easy going! Her favorite treat is peanut butter! She is up to date on all vaccinations, is on heartworm/flea/tick preventative.

If you want to help with this dog’s medical expenses:
https://therescuedrescuers.org/how-to-help

If you want to adopt this dog, apply at the link!
https://therescuedrescuers.org/adoption-application
