Lightning's Story
Lighting is a beautiful 1 year old boy who is ready for a loving home forever home! This cutie will be 2 in February and weighs 23 pounds. Lightning loves to play, but he doesn't know when to stop, so he'll likely irritate other dogs who don't match his high energy level or who need a break. He'd thrive as an only dog with lots of attention, but if another dog in the home both loves to play and can be patient with an adolescent dog who doesn't stop easily, that could work too. He’s good with kids 6+ who will not be frightened if an energetic young dog jumps on them, and has gotten along well with the 7 year old in his foster home. We have not observed him with cats; he's unlikely to be aggressive, but it’s unknown if he’d also bother them to play.
Lightning is a smart and energetic young dog looking for a stable home who will keep working on his training. He pulls on leash, but as long as you’re willing to keep him on leash and work on that leash training, a fenced yard isn’t required. A training class would be a great idea – this boy is smart and trainable, and will do well with a committed person helping him learn!
He does fuss when first left alone, so he may be a little too vocal for an apartment – but he settles down in his crate after several minutes of complaining. He’s accustomed to having someone around and that would be ideal, but his foster family has been able to leave him crated for several hours when necessary. He really loves his people and enjoys having them around! Daycare also could be a good solution, if he is able to play respectfully for other dogs in that environment.
Lightning is neutered and vaccinated, and his adoption fee is $400. You can find more information on the adoption process and a link to the application form on our website at www.wisconinbostonterrierrescue.com. Please email wbtradoption@gmail.com with any questions.
